MUBENDE — Pastor Mwima Magecius of Pentecostal Churches of Uganda, Kasaana-Mubende, delivered a Sunday sermon today, April 19, 2026, focusing on the power of Jesus Christ and encouraging believers to maintain a close relationship with Him.

During the service, Pastor Mwima reflected on influential figures in world history, including former Ugandan President Idi Amin and former South African President Nelson Mandela, who ended apartheid.

He noted that while both men were powerful in their time, they have since died and their names cannot save anyone today.

“But the name of Jesus, who was born of flesh, died and resurrected, saves billions of people every day around the world,” Pastor Mwima told the congregation.

He cited Matthew 27:50–53 (NLT) to illustrate the significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection:

_“Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. They left the cemetery after Jesus’ resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people.”_

Pastor Mwima explained that the tearing of the temple curtain symbolizes that believers can now enter God’s presence and speak to Him directly, without an earthly intermediary.

He encouraged people in all circumstances not to give up on trusting God. “Troubles come and go, but God will always be there for us,” he said.

The service was held at the Pentecostal Churches of Uganda in Kasaana, Mubende District.
