Four members of the same family were injured on Thursday evening after an unidentified attacker allegedly poured a substance suspected to be acid on them at their home in Mityana Municipality.

According to police, the incident occurred on 6th August 2026 at around 7:45 PM in Kasimbi, Busimbi Cell, Busimbi Division. The suspect, described as wearing a maroon jacket, reportedly took advantage of a power outage in the area.

Police say the attacker first asked the children in the compound about the whereabouts of their mother. The children then led him to the sitting room where the mother was with other children.

Upon entering, he allegedly sprayed the substance, targeting the mother, before also dousing everyone present, including the young ones who had led him inside.

“The scene was thrown into panic and confusion. The yelling and alarm attracted neighbors who rushed to rescue the victims,” said SSP Lameck Kigozi, Police Spokesperson for Wamala Region.

    • The Victims
All four injured persons were rushed to Mityana General Hospital. Police identified them as:
      1.Nankumba Prossy, 43
      2. Namugga Teddy, 17, juvenile
      3. Nalukenge Robina, 10, pupil
      4. Ssekaggo Jeremiah, 6, pupil

According to SSP Kigozi, the victims are in stable condition. “Three have since been discharged but remain on medication and under close medical monitoring,” he confirmed on Saturday.

    Police Investigation
The suspect fled the scene and is currently only identifiable by his clothing. The matter was reported to Mityana Police Station and a team including a Scene of Crime Officer visited the location.

Police recovered key exhibits, including the container suspected to have held the substance, which was abandoned on the verandah, and the maroon jacket reportedly dropped by the attacker as he fled.

“Samples of the substance and other exhibits have been forwarded to the analytical laboratory for forensic analysis and scientific determination of what the substance was,” SSP Kigozi said.

Statements have been recorded from both victims and witnesses as inquiries into the attack continue.

Police have appealed to members of the public with any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect to come forward.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
