Mubende, Uganda – A harrowing incident has shaken the community in Mubende District, where a 4-year-old boy, Kazungu Daniel, was kidnapped from his home and later found dead in a pit latrine.
According to reports, the child’s father, Baingana Eric, woke up early on March 9, 2026, to prepare his children for school, only to discover that Kazungu Daniel was missing.
The behind door of their house was open, and it is believed that the kidnapper broke in and took the child while the family was asleep.
The kidnapper subsequently demanded a ransom of 6 million shillings from the family, claiming they would release the child if the payment was made.
The family managed to mobilize 1 million shillings, which they sent to the kidnapper, but tragically, the child had already been murdered.
A joint tracking team comprising the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence and the Police Flying Squad successfully tracked the suspect, Muwanguzi Emmanuel, a resident of Kisonde LC1 Rwigo Parish in Kibaale district, to Kibaati in Kansanga, Makindye Division, Kampala city, where he was arrested.
During interrogation, Emmanuel confessed to kidnapping, murdering, and dumping Kazungu Daniel’s body in a pit latrine belonging to Rwabutariye Frank in Nalutete.
The Mubende fire brigade retrieved the body from the pit latrine, and it has been taken to Mubende Hospital Mortuary for further examination.
Muwanguzi Emmanuel has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in court soon.
SSP Lameck Kigozi, Wamala Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, praising the collaborative efforts of the security agencies involved in the operation.
