Mubende, Uganda – Police in Mubende have arrested two suspects, Ndyanabo Derrick, 18, and Mwikiriza Ronald, 25, in connection with the murder of 8-year-old Ndyanabo Ian.
The victim, a resident of Katabalanga A, Katabalanga ward, South Division, Mubende municipality, went missing on April 14th, 2026, while fetching water with his 10-year-old sister.
The sister left him behind at the well, and his body was discovered the following day in a bush near the family’s coffee garden with signs of strangulation.
According to police, Ndyanabo Derrick confessed to killing his brother with the help of Mwikiriza Ronald, who is already wanted for a 2025 murder case. The suspect reportedly had a grudge against his siblings, accusing them of disrespect.
SSP Lameck Kigozi, police spokesperson for Wamala Region, expressed shock at the incident, citing it as an unusual case of a sibling committing such a heinous act.
“It’s not common for a big brother to savage his siblings, whom to any right thinking person is the second line of defense in the absence of the parents. In this case, we suspect substance abuse which made the big brother go out of his mind.”
The suspects will appear in court once charges are sanctioned by the Resident State Attorney in Mubende.
