In a surprising turn of events, David Kabanda, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Kasambya County in Mubende District, has emerged as the only NRM MP to beat opinion polls in the area.
This development comes after a local radio station, 105.1 Point FM, conducted opinion polls through its program Omulongooti, covering all counties in Mubende District.
According to the polls, Kabanda garnered 69% of the votes, leaving his opponents, Muhumuza Henry (NRM) with 40% and Kyeyune Sorak (NRM) with 9%, far behind.
This outcome is particularly significant, given that two other NRM incumbent MPs in Mubende, Lubega Bashir Sempa and Museveni William Ndoori, lost to their opponents in the same polls.
Lubega Bashir Sempa, the incumbent MP for Mubende Municipality, lost to Sumaya Nabawanuka of the National Unity Platform (NUP), while Museveni William Ndoori, the incumbent MP for Buwekula South, lost to Deadan Mubangizi, also of the NRM.
Kabanda’s efforts in developing Kasambya County have been recognized.
Through his lobbying efforts, he successfully pressured the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health to bring developed education and health services closer to the people of Kasambya County. As a result, the county has seen significant improvements in these essential services.
The Ministry of Education has established schools in the area, providing access to quality education for the local children.
Similarly, the Ministry of Health has set up health centers in several villages, ensuring that the community has access to better healthcare facilities.

As secretary-general of the Patriotic League of Uganda, a movement chaired by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Kabanda has worked tirelessly to promote government programs, such as the parish development model and Myooga, which have greatly benefited the Kasambya community.
His dedication to his constituents and his ability to bring about positive change have endeared him to the people of Kasambya County.
With the NRM primaries scheduled for 2025, Kabanda’s victory in the opinion polls suggests that he may retain his seat as MP for Kasambya County.
His popularity and dedication to his constituents make him a strong contender for the 2026 general elections.
