A shocking incident unfolded at Lubowa Police Station in Kampala, Uganda, where soldiers from the Special Forces Command (SFC) stormed the premises and brutally attacked police officers, leaving nine severely injured and hospitalized.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, when SFC operatives arrived at the station with eight suspects allegedly involved in a robbery within the Lubowa Estate.

The suspects were reportedly in a critical state, with visible signs of torture, including bleeding, bruises, and broken joints.

The SFC soldiers demanded that the police officers detain the suspects despite their critical condition.

The Officer-in-Charge, ASP Innocent Sunday, refused, insisting that the suspects needed medical attention before any detention.

The situation escalated when SFC soldiers called for backup, and more commandos arrived, surrounding the police station and launching a brutal attack on the officers and civilians who were at the station by that time.

The police officers were beaten, whipped, and battered, with some suffering broken bones, swollen faces, and deep cuts.

The Uganda Police Force has launched an investigation into the incident.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for swift action and justice for the affected officers and civilians.

The government is under pressure to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and that such incidents do not recur.

This incident echoes similar concerns about security agency conduct, such as the attack on over 30 journalists by UPDF soldiers and other security agencies during the Kawempe North parliamentary by-election, where journalists were assaulted and detained while covering the election.

The Uganda Journalists Association condemned the attacks, calling for greater protection for journalists.
