Uganda’s luckiest man of God who proved that indeed there’s no loss in serving Yahweh, Pastor Aloysius Bugingo has criticized unscrupulous people who say he was not injured in the shooting that claimed the life of his best friend, Richard Muhumuza.
Speaking during Muhumuza’s funeral ceremony in Muguluka village, Lwebitakuli sub-county in Ssembabule district, Bugingo said Muhumuza shielded him from much of the shooting that occurred with only a few of the bullets reaching him.
He expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “He (Muhumuza) was a brother who gave his life for me to live.”
The pastor recounted the shocking incident on January 2, 2024, when Muhumuza, in his mid-thirties, was fatally shot during an attack on the vehicle they were traveling in Namungoona, a Kampala suburb.
Bugingo revealed that Muhumuza had long declared his commitment, saying, “If Pastor were to be shot, I would take in more bullets, and he (Bugingo) would live to serve the people of God.”
Meanwhile, Pastor Bugingo pledged unwavering support for Muhumuza’s family, particularly his five young daughters and a two-month-old baby left behind. “They will never lack anything. I will do everything for them until my last day in the world,” Bugingo declared.
He disclosed that Jovia (Muhumuza’s wife) had been residing at his home for the past two months, receiving care and support from Bugingo’s wife, Suzan Makula.
Later in the evening, SFC commandos sent Muhumuza off with an 18-gun salute, the insignia of a hero who died on duty.
