Kampala, Uganda –
Fear has gripped the National Unity Platform (NUP) after Senono Denis, popularly known as “Den City,” was abducted by heavily armed soldiers yesterday evening.
The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m., and Denis’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Denis, a Local Council 3 (L.C.3) councillor and well-known activist within the NUP, is frequently seen raising the Uganda flag at various activities.
An eyewitness reported that a drone van with the registration number UAK 387H had been parked near the NUP headquarters before the abduction.
As Denis walked a few meters from the office, soldiers allegedly grabbed him and forcefully pushed him into the van, which then sped off.
David Lewis Rubongoya, NUP’s General Secretary, confirmed the incident on X (formerly Twitter), describing Den City as “an impassioned young activist.”
Concerns are mounting over Denis’s safety, with fears of potential torture by those who are supposed to protect citizens.
Rubongoya expressed, “By now, he must be enduring untold torture and brutality from the same people who should be protecting citizens.”
As of this morning, no official statement has been released by the authorities regarding Denis’s abduction or his current condition.
The NUP and Ugandan citizens await answers and demand Denis’s safe return.
