Mubende, Uganda – The territorial police in Mubende district have arrested a 45-year-old man, Mugisha Alex, for allegedly murdering his 4-year-old biological son, Niyobushimo Samuel. The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in Kanseera cell, East division, Mubende municipal.

According to Rachael Kawala, police spokesperson for Wamala region, which includes Mubende district, Samuel’s neck was found deeply cut, and his body was taken to Mubende regional hospital for postmortem. Mugisha, who is being held at Mubende police station, claimed he was not in his senses and did not know what happened.

Sources close to the family revealed that Mugisha had been having misunderstandings with his wife, and it was not the first time he was found attempting to kill his own child. Residents expressed concerns about Mugisha’s behavior and the safety of his family.

Shockingly, Mugisha is a pastor, and residents have expressed concerns about the proliferation of born-again churches in the area without a firm religious foundation. They are calling on born-again leaders to intervene and have also asked the chairperson to prevent Mugisha from returning to the community even if he is released from prison.

The police task force responded to the scene and examined the area, opening a case immediately after being informed of the murder at 3 pm. The investigation is ongoing.
