A fatal accident occurred on March 6, 2025, in Mityana district, Uganda. The accident took the life of IP Namanya Nelson, a 48-year-old police officer.

Nelson was riding a motorcycle, UP 8016 Yamaha, along the Mityana-Mubende road when the accident happened. He collided with a parked truck, UBJ 394S/UAD 535Q Renault, which had broken down.

According to preliminary findings, the truck driver parked the vehicle on the left side of the road without placing any warning signs.

Nelson, who was riding his motorcycle, did not see the parked truck and collided with it.

The accident happened at around 8:00 pm at Buswabulongo, along the Mityana-Mubende road.

Nelson sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Mityana hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Nelson was in charge of the Kisita FPU detach in Kassanda district and a resident of Kisita Barracks.

The police are investigating the accident and are looking for the truck driver.

The police spokesperson for the Wamala region, SP Racheal Kawala, said that the driver may have parked the truck carelessly, which caused the accident.

The police are reminding drivers to use warning signs when their vehicles break down on the road. This helps prevent accidents and ensures the safety of other road users.

The scene has been examined and documented by traffic officers.

The body is at the Mityana hospital mortuary, awaiting post-mortem examination. The police are still investigating the accident.
