MUBENDE — Defending Masaza Cup champions Buweekula Ssaza have unveiled Ssali Andrew as their new head coach, replacing Felix Ssekabuuza who departed for another ssaza.
Ssali brings extensive Masaza Cup experience to the role, having previously coached Buddu, Ssese, and Bugerere ssaza teams.
His appointment comes as Buweekula prepares to defend its 2025 title when the tournament kicks off in May.
The annual tournament, organized under the patronage of Buganda Kingdom’s Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, features teams representing Buganda’s 18 counties.
The Kabaka is expected to attend the opening match in Buweekula, where the home side will begin its title defense.
Buweekula officials say the early appointment signals their intent to retain the trophy. Fans have welcomed Ssali’s arrival and expressed optimism that the team will display the same energy that carried them to victory last year.
The 2026 Masaza Cup is scheduled to begin in May, with fixtures to be released by the Buganda Kingdom sports committee.
