Makerere University Guild President, James Churchill Ssentamu, who is also a nephew to National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, is facing potential disqualification from the Youth Member of Parliament race for the Buganda region.
Two registered voters and youth leaders from Rubaga Division, Damalie Nambalirwa and Ali Bisaso, have accused Ssentamu of using their names and signatures to support his nomination without their consent.

According to a letter written by their lawyers, Bristow Advocates, Ssentamu allegedly included the duo’s names on his list of nominators without consulting them.
The lawyers claim that this act amounts to forgery and a violation of their clients’ rights. “Our clients categorically state that they never signed and/or consented to support the nomination of Mr. Ssentamu Churchill James,” reads the letter.
Ssentamu has dismissed the allegations as “politically motivated lies” aimed at derailing his campaign. In a social media post, he cited Exodus 14:14, stating “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still”.

The Electoral Commission has been urged to investigate the matter and take necessary action.
If found guilty, Ssentamu risks being disqualified from the race.
