Police in Sanga Town Council, Kiruhura district, are investigating a violent incident involving supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
The clash occurred during a campaign rally addressed by NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu.

According to a statement released by SP Kasasira Samson, the Police spokesperson for Rwizi region, five cases of assault have been reported, with victims including a police officer, CPL Nasasira Kenneth, and the Deputy Mayor of Sanga Town Council, Mr. Bandikubi Fenekansi.
The police are currently investigating the incidents and working to apprehend suspects. In a Facebook post earlier today, Kyagulanyi claimed that NRM supporters had been given sticks to beat up NUP supporters and block them from attending the rally.

The NUP leader also criticized what he described as a belief among NRM supporters that Uganda belongs to them forever, stating that “Uganda will be here after Museveni.”
Police efforts to restore order and ensure peace in the area are ongoing.
