A 16-year-old student, Kisakye Resty, a Senior Three student of St. Andrews Secondary School, Kiyunga, has been found dead in a sugarcane plantation in Kamuli District.
The police have launched investigations into the gruesome murder, which is believed to be linked to a scam involving a radio advert promising wealth and riches.
According to the Busoga North Region Police Spokesperson, Mr. Samson Lubega, the deceased had sent UGX 400,000 to unknown suspects after responding to the advert, money she allegedly stole from her uncle’s home.
She went missing about a week later, and her lifeless body was discovered in the sugarcane plantation.
The police responded promptly, documenting the scene and recovering several exhibits believed to be linked to the crime.
The body was taken to Kamuli General Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
The police have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with the investigative team by providing any useful information that could help bring the culprits to justice.
No arrests have been made yet, but the police have intensified their efforts to trace and apprehend the perpetrators behind the heinous crime.
