The territorial police in Kassanda are actively investigating the murder of Busingye Jennifer, a 48-year-old resident of Ndaiga village, Makokoto Sub County.
According to preliminary findings, the prime suspect is her husband, Mutungi Godfrey, a 55-year-old village defense chairperson of Ndaiga village.
The tragic incident occurred on the night of April 16, 2025, when the couple got into a heated argument at their home.
The disagreement allegedly escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in Mutungi stabbing Busingye multiple times on the face, chest, and head using a knife.
After the attack, Mutungi fled the scene, leaving Busingye in critical condition. Despite efforts to rush her to a medical facility, Busingye unfortunately breathed her last.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Kassanda Health Center IV for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The police are currently conducting a manhunt for Mutungi, determined to bring him to justice.
“We are actively investigating this matter, and search efforts are underway to ensure the suspect is brought to book,” said SP Rachel Kawala, police spokesperson for the Wamala region.
“We urge anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to come forward and assist us in our investigations.”
The couple had 14 children together, adding to the tragedy of the situation.
The police investigation is ongoing, and the community is waiting with bated breath for justice to be served.
