Kiboga, Uganda – A disturbing incident has unfolded in Kiboga district, where a 41-year-old single father, Mubi Aliwo Thomas, has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his two children by poisoning.
The tragic event occurred on December 10, 2024, at approximately 6:30 pm in Magi village, Kasega parish, Kapeke subcounty.
The victims, Bugembe Thomas (6 years old) and Kabanda Praise (4 years old), were found dead with smelly poison substances flowing from their mouths.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect, Mubi Aliwo Thomas, had been separated from the children’s mother, who had left for an unknown location.
Mubi had taken the children from Buyende district to Kayunga district in search of employment, but to no avail. He then proceeded to Hoima city, where he failed to locate his brother.
According to police reports, on Sunday, December 8, 2024, Mubi left Kayunga District for Hoima city in search of a job in connection with his brother.
However, upon arrival at Hoima, he was unable to trace his brother, whose phone had gone off.

On December 10, 2024, Mubi left Hoima City using a boda-boda and made a stopover at Magi village, Kasega Parish, Kapeke subcounty in Kiboga district.
It is alleged that he entered into a building belonging to Namuli Betty, together with his children, and rested inside without the owner’s knowledge.
Police investigations indicate that Mubi allegedly administered poison into the mouths of his children, causing their instant death.
The police were informed about the incident, and a task team visited the scene.
At the scene, the police found the two dead bodies of the male children lying with smelly poison substances flowing from their mouths.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Kiboga Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examination.
Police spokesperson for the Wamala region, SP Kawala Rachael, confirmed that inquiries are ongoing, and it has been established that the father intended to kill the children and flee for his own survival.
