In an exemplary act of generosity, SSEMCO, one of the leading supplier of rice and maize flour in Mubende, marked the beginning of Ramadan with a significant donation of 12 (25kgs) bags of rice and 6 (10kgs) bags of maize flour to Mubende Town Mosque.

This noble gesture, spearheaded by the company’s founder, Mr. Moses Serugga, underscores Ssemco’s unwavering commitment to supporting the very community that has been integral to its success.

Expressing his appreciation, Mr. Serugga highlighted the longstanding relationship between Ssemco and the Muslim community.

“Muslims have been and continue to be among our most valued customers. Their unwavering support throughout the years has been instrumental to our growth. This donation is our way of expressing gratitude and standing in solidarity during this sacred month,” he remarked.

The generous contribution was met with high praise from Amiri Wabusimba, Advocacy and Communication Specialist at the Uganda Muslim Medical Bureau (UMMB), who commended Ssemco’s spirit of giving.

“It is truly inspiring to witness acts of kindness that transcend religious boundaries. This generosity reflects the essence of true brotherhood and unity.

As Muslims, we too must embrace the responsibility of uplifting others—not just during Ramadan, but as a continuous way of life,” Wabusimba emphasized.

Beyond the immediate impact, Wabusimba urged the Muslim community to cultivate a culture of sustained generosity and unity, ensuring that the spirit of giving extends far beyond the holy month.

As a representative at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Headquarters under UMMB, he pledged to engage the Office of the District Kadhi to further amplify the reach of such contributions.

The congregation at Mubende Town Mosque received the donation with heartfelt prayers, invoking Allah’s blessings upon Mr. Serugga and Ssemco, asking for continued prosperity, good health, and divine guidance.

Ssemco’s benevolence stands as a powerful testament to interfaith solidarity and corporate social responsibility.

May this spirit of generosity ignite a ripple effect, fostering a culture of compassion and unity that endures well beyond Ramadan?
    Ramadan Mubarak!
