Kampala, Uganda – A 40-year-old mother of five, Mutesi Joline Dusabe, has been arrested and charged with the murder of her two-year-old son, Nganwa Rugari.
The incident occurred in Kampala, Uganda, amid ongoing divorce proceedings between Dusabe and her husband, Chris Rugari, who serves as Uganda’s ambassador to Zimbabwe
According to investigators, the motive behind the alleged murder was Dusabe’s fear that the DNA test results would reveal that some of the children were not biologically related to Rugari.
The couple’s five children were scheduled to undergo DNA testing as part of the divorce proceedings, which Rugari had requested to establish the paternity of the children.
On the day of the incident, Nganwa and his 12-month-old sister were set to undergo DNA testing. However, shortly after Nganwa was pronounced dead, Dusabe allegedly began making frantic calls to relatives, urging them to hasten the removal of the body from the hospital and arrange for its transfer to a funeral home.
Rugari’s family members, suspicious of Dusabe’s actions, blocked the removal of the body and insisted on waiting for police involvement. This led to Dusabe’s arrest.
Rugari has alleged that his wife had extramarital affairs during his time abroad, resulting in some of the children not being biologically his. The investigation into Nganwa’s death is ongoing.
Dusabe is currently in police custody, facing charges of murder.
