Hajjat Nusura Nabukalu Juma, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Budaka District, has tragically lost her life in a motor accident that occurred on Sunday evening, December 29, 2024.
The fatal crash took place in Kakira, along the busy Jinja-Iganga highway, at around 5 pm.
According to reports, Nabukalu’s white Toyota Double Cabin, registration number UG 4803C, collided head-on with a trailer, registration number KDH 025V, which was traveling in the opposite direction.
The accident’s circumstances are still under investigation.
Nabukalu was a prominent figure in Ugandan politics, having contested for the Jinja City Women Member of Parliament seat in the 2021 General election, although she lost to NUP’s Manjeri Kyebakutika.

She was also renowned for pioneering the Busoga Women Leaders Association (BWERA), an initiative funded by President Museveni to promote leadership and politics among women in Busoga.
Throughout her career, Nabukalu served in various capacities, including as a member of the Jinja District Land board in 2010.
Prior to her posting in Budaka, she held the position of Deputy RDC in Sironko.
Her contributions to the development of women’s leadership and politics in Uganda will not be forgotten.
