Nairobi, Kenya – In a shocking turn of events, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the prime suspect in a series of gruesome murders of women whose bodies were found in an old quarry, escaped from police custody on Tuesday 20-08-2024.
Jumaisi, who was arrested last month in connection with the discovery of at least six bodies wrapped in plastic bags in Kware quarry, broke out of the Gigiri police station alongside 12 Eritrean nationals, according to police spokesperson Resila Onyango.
The suspect had reportedly admitted to killing 42 women, including his wife, during his time in custody.
However, his lawyer claimed that Khalusha was tortured into making a false confession, a allegation denied by prosecutors.
A manhunt is currently underway to recapture Khalusha and the other escaped detainees.
