Kampala, Uganda – In a shocking turn of events, NEC FC has suspended its head coach, Hussein Mbalangu, effective immediately, citing professional and ethical misconduct.
The decision comes on the heels of Mbalangu’s impressive stint with Ssaza Ssingo, which he guided to the Masaza Cup 2025 finals, marking their first appearance in the championship game in nearly seven years.
Mbalangu, a CAF-licensed tactician, has been gaining recognition in local football circles. He recently received the Mike Mutebi Award at the LFA Awards, solidifying his reputation as one of the finest coaches in the region.
The suspension announcement, issued by NEC FC management, states that James Odoch will assume the role of head coach in the interim.
The reasons behind Mbalangu’s suspension remain unclear, but the move is likely to raise eyebrows in the football community, given his recent successes.
Meanwhile, Ssaza Ssingo is set to face off against Buweekula in the highly anticipated Masaza Cup 2025 final on November 1, 2025, at Nakivubo Stadium.
Buweekula, thirsty for their first-ever title, will be looking to make history, while Ssaza Ssingo aims to end their seven-year trophy drought.
The stage is set for an electrifying encounter, with both teams eager to claim the coveted Masaza Cup.
