Kampala, Uganda – Security forces apprehended at least four half-naked anti-corruption protestors near the Ugandan Parliament on Monday, September 2, 2024.
The demonstrators, who were partially clothed, were demanding the resignation of Speaker Anita Among amid allegations of corruption.
Eyewitnesses reported that the half naked protesters were peacefully expressing their grievances when security personnel intervened, leading to the arrests.
Speaker Among has faced criticism over alleged corruption and mismanagement, sparking calls for her resignation from various segments of society.
Police confirmed the arrests, stating that the individuals were detained for “unlawful assembly and indecent exposure.”
The protestors’ actions were seen as a dramatic expression of their outrage, with some onlookers expressing solidarity with their cause.
