In a strategic move, President Yoweri Museveni has reshuffled Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) across the country, just a year before the start of campaigns for the 2026 general elections.
The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) alerted media outlets to be on standby for the announcement, which is seen as a bid to bolster the government’s presence and influence at the grassroots level.
The reshuffle aims to enhance governance, security, and service delivery in the districts, and is expected to take effect immediately.
The changes come at a critical time, as the country gears up for the 2026 elections, with campaigns scheduled to begin next year.
According to sources, the President has made the changes to ensure that the RDCs are aligned with his vision for the country and are capable of delivering on the government’s promises.
The RDCs play a crucial role in implementing national policies, maintaining security, and coordinating development programs in their respective districts.
The full list of new appointments and transfers is expected to be released shortly.
Media outlets and the public are eagerly awaiting the announcement to learn more about the changes and how they will impact district administration.
This reshuffle is the latest in a series of moves by President Museveni to revamp the country’s administration and ensure effective governance ahead of the elections.
