Muhumuza Henry has officially confirmed his candidacy for the Member of Parliament seat representing Kasambya County in Mubende District.
His nomination as an independent candidate was finalized by the Electoral Commission on October 22, 2025, in Mubende.
Muhumuza’s decision to run independently follows his loss in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries, where he garnered 10,873 votes, representing 22.2% of the total votes cast. The winner of the NRM primaries, Kabanda, secured 36,429 votes.
Muhumuza has expressed dissatisfaction with the NRM electoral process, citing irregularities and unfairness. He also alleged that the NRM tribunal, where he sought justice, was biased.
The Kasambya NRM elections were marred by violence, with two cars burnt and one person shot in the leg during clashes between supporters of the two contestants.
Muhumuza also expressed disappointment with the NRM tribunal, which he approached seeking justice.
He alleged that the tribunal was unfair, and Kabanda’s position as Secretary General for the Patriotic League of Uganda, chaired by Muhoozi Kainerugaba, made him “untouchable.”
Muhumuza believes that the people of Kasambya deserve justice and is determined to take his case to the general public.
