Kampala, Uganda – Joel Ssenyonyi, Leader of Opposition in Parliament and close friend of Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), has strongly condemned the police’s violent treatment of the opposition leader.
In a statement, Ssenyonyi revealed that Bobi Wine suffered severe injuries during a visit to Counsel George Musisi’s home in Kira Municipality.
“As Bobi Wine left, crowds gathered, and police and military responded with tear gas and projectiles. A tear gas canister directly hit his left leg, causing serious harm,” Ssenyonyi stated.
Medical reports confirm that fragments from the tear gas canister are embedded in Bobi Wine’s leg, requiring surgery for removal.
Ssenyonyi slammed the police’s claim that Bobi Wine injured himself by stumbling into his car, calling it “ridiculous.”
“This brutality is despicable and speaks volumes about a regime that only understands violence against peaceful citizens,” Ssenyonyi emphasized.
He reaffirmed the opposition’s commitment to achieving freedom for Ugandans, vowing that “this chaos will end.”
