Abdul Bisaso, the newly declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) flagbearer for the Kassanda South Member of Parliament seat, received a warm welcome from his supporters upon his return from Mecca, where he had traveled for Umrah.
Bisaso, who also serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Emyooga Committee in Uganda, expressed gratitude to his supporters while highlighting the challenges they faced during his absence.
Bisaso emerged victorious in the recent party primaries, garnering 10,226 votes. His closest competitors included Eria Mubiru with 9,860 votes, Simeo Nsubuga with 3,172 votes, Michael Muhumuza with 910 votes, and Godfrey Katumba with 610 votes.
Despite his victory, Bisaso’s win was challenged in the party tribunal by his opponents, with the hearing scheduled to commence on July 29.
In a notable contrast, welcome events organized by opposition members have faced disruptions by security operatives in the past.
Upon his return, Bisaso revealed that his opponents had allegedly threatened his supporters in the constituency while he was away.
Nonetheless, his supporters turned out in large numbers to welcome him, demonstrating their unwavering support for their chosen candidate.
