Mubende, Uganda – A brazen armed robbery occurred in the early hours of the morning in Wamazi cell, Nabingola Town Council, Mubende district, leaving a local businessman and his family shaken.
According to eyewitnesses, Mr. Luwanga Joseph, a prominent businessman in the area, was attacked by three armed thugs at around 12:20 am as he returned home.
The robbers, who were holding his wife at gunpoint, forced him to drive into the compound and surrender his belongings.
The victims handed over 800,000 shillings in cash, a family flat-screen TV, a solar battery, and two mobile phones to the robbers, who fled the scene after firing stray bullets to scare off approaching neighbors.
One person, Kamia Jofre, a USE vacationist, was injured in the process and is currently receiving treatment at Amber Medical Facility in Mubende Township.
SSP Lameck Kigozi, Police Spokesperson Wamala region, appealed to the public for information, assuring confidentiality.
“We urge the community to cooperate with us to apprehend the perpetrators. We assure the public that efforts are underway to track down the robbers and bring them to justice,” he said.
This is the second such incident in the area since the start of the year, and authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
