Kampala, Uganda – In a move that has further infuriated already-frustrated vendors, President Yoweri Museveni has postponed a scheduled meeting with traders, citing ongoing construction at the designated venue, Kololo Grounds.

The meeting, initially set for July 31, was meant to address the vendors’ grievances, including the removal of the Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing System (EFRIS), which they claim leads to double taxation and significant losses.

Other demands included ordering investors to operate within designated areas and reducing Value-Added Tax (VAT) from 18% to 15%.

The vendors, who had previously staged a peaceful protest and closed their shops to draw attention to their plight, had been promised a meeting with the President after submitting their concerns to him through KACITA and other group leaders.

However, despite assurances from President Museveni, no concrete actions have been taken by the government to address their issues.

The postponement of the meeting has sparked further discontent among vendors, who feel their concerns are being ignored by the government.

The President’s decision has also raised questions about the government’s commitment to resolving the traders’ grievances.

The vendors’ demands remain unmet, and their frustration continues to grow.

While talking to journalists today, vendors expressed their deep disappointment with President Museveni’s decision to postpone the meeting.

They reiterated their frustration with the government’s inaction on their concerns and promised to organize a protest if the President does not act positively to address their issues.

The vendors’ patience is wearing thin, and they are determined to take action to have their voices heard.
