It was a moment of jubilations for the candidates of Kampala Secondary School after the school got 28 1st grades in the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams.

The school which had 116 candidates saw dozens of other candidates in 2nd grade.

According to the School’s able Head Teacher Mr Patrick Kamyuka, the secret behind their success is the cooperation between the teachers, world-class infrastructure, modern facilities and the support of the parents.

”Our school has all the best equipment you can think about, our library is fully equipped, our laboratory is on another level and our teachers are the best, so I think that explains why we got all these first grades,” said Mr Kamyuka.

He noted that the school management has already implemented new measures to make sure that the current candidates score higher than the 2023 class.

”Yes our performance is superclass, but as management, we feel we can do better, we don’t settle for less. So we now aim at getting hundreds of first grades out of this current S4 class and am sure if our students put in more effort and as management do our best, we shall achieve our targets,” vowed Mr Kamyuka.

The best candidate Omala Joel who scored 8 in 8 said he was able to make it courtesy of his restless teachers and the motivation and support he has always been getting from his parents and friends.

Other students who performed excellently include two Somali nationals; Sabrin Salah who scored 10 aggregates, Rahma Muhamood who scored 11 aggregates.

”We can’t thank enough our great teachers who put in all their efforts to make sure we succeed. Of course, we recommend this school to any student out there whose dream is to achieve a brighter future. Come and study at Kampala SS, you won’t regret,” said jubilant Salah and her colleague Rahma.
