Kampala – Two women, Kamakune Lucky and Nabatanzi Hadijja, were arraigned before Kira Magistrates Court this afternoon on charges of criminal trespass, impersonation, forgery, and uttering false documents related to a land fraud case.
The suspects, allegedly part of a larger group operating in Kampala and Wakiso, falsely claimed ownership of a plot of land in Kiwologoma, Kira Division, Wakiso district, which belongs to Ms. Karungi Suzan.
The duo is accused of forging a land title, which they used as collateral to secure a loan of thirty million shillings from PLC Financial Services in Ntinda, Kampala.
Following their arrest, they were remanded to Luzira Prison until March 31, 2026, for their next court appearance.
The State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), in collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), is leading the investigation.
SHIPU Director, Col. Edth Nakalema, reaffirmed the unit’s commitment to combating fraud, emphasizing its threat to investment and the country’s socio-economic transformation.
The authorities urge anyone with information on similar cases to come forward, as efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing.
