The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, through the Office of the State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, has formally summoned Ms.

Chosen Becky (real name Rebecca Kukiriza), a prominent Ugandan musician, to appear at the ministry’s offices on Tuesday, 23rd December 2025 for a formal engagement concerning allegations that she involved children in controversial adult matters.

The summons, signed by Barugahara Balaam Ateeyi, Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, outlines specific actions the artist must undertake to address the allegations and comply with Uganda’s child‑protection laws.

According to the detailed notice titled “SUMMONS,” Ms. Becky is required to fulfill four mandatory obligations at the meeting:

    1. Formal Withdrawal– She must formally withdraw all alleged actions involving children, effectively retracting any behavior deemed inappropriate or harmful to minors.

    2. Public Apology – She is to issue a public apology explicitly acknowledging that children should never be involved in adult disagreements or used in controversial messaging, thereby affirming the protection of children’s rights in public discourse.

    3. Written Commitment– The artist must provide a written pledge stating that she will not involve children in any personal, marital, or social disputes, whether conducted offline or online, ensuring future compliance with child‑welfare standards.

    4. Removal of Content– She is instructed to immediately delete and cause the removal of all social‑media posts, images, or videos that feature children and are linked to the controversy, thereby eliminating any material that could endanger or exploit minors.

The document also contains a GENERAL WARNING TO THE PUBLIC , emphasizing that children’s rights are rigorously protected under Ugandan law and that social‑media popularity, celebrity status, or personal circumstances do not exempt anyone from child‑protection regulations.

The ministry warns that it will not hesitate to pursue appropriate legal and administrative action against any individual found misusing children for publicity or content that undermines their welfare.

The statement reaffirms the Government of Uganda’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rights, safety, dignity, and best interests of every child in the country.

The summons concludes with the signature of Barugahara Balaam Ateeyi, Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, who oversees the enforcement of child‑protection policies within the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.
