Prominent Ugandan businessman and proprietor of Entebbe Aero Beach, Cornelius Kodet Lorika, has died after a prolonged illness. He passed away at approximately 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at his residence in Nsamizi zone, near Entebbe State House.
Lorika, who had been bedridden for nearly three years, had sought treatment at various hospitals both locally and internationally.

A vigil was held at his residence last night, with numerous mourners in attendance. A tentative burial program will be announced pending a final decision from family members.
The deceased is survived by seven children and several grandchildren. At the time of his death, Lorika was still seeking compensation from the government for losses incurred during the 1979/1980 liberation war.
He had been demanding Shs 9 billion in compensation for the loss of his cattle and farm in Masindi district (now Kiryandongo district).
In 2015 and 2018, President Museveni wrote to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs to verify Lorika’s claim, but no positive response was received.
Lorika had claimed that his farm in Kiryandongo district was looted by liberators in 1979/80, with cows taken by soldiers to feed the Tanzanian army in Gulu.
Additionally, Lorika had lost property worth Shs 13.5 billion in Namalu village, Nakapiripiriti district, during the Karamoja insurgency in the 1980s and 1990s, but a compensation committee failed to visit his farm to verify the claims.
Lorika was a renowned entrepreneur with investments across Uganda, including Katuruum lodges in Kidepo, Mt. Moroto hotel, and Namalu stock farm.
