The Electoral Commission has officially nominated Edward Ssempiira of the National Unity Platform (NUP) to contest for the Member of Parliament position representing Buweekula County. Ssempiira, a first-time candidate, expressed his determination to bring change to the area, citing 40 years of poor service under the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
In his nomination acceptance, Ssempiira appealed to the people of Buweekula South in Mubende district to trust the young generation, saying they are ready to provide better service.
He emphasized that the prolonged rule of NRM has led to poor service delivery, prompting him to take action.
According to the Electoral Commission, Ssempiira is not alone in the race. Fred Tumwesigye, an independent candidate, was also nominated on the same day, October 22, 2025. The two candidates are now officially cleared to contest for the MP seat.
