Nebbi, Uganda – Former Archbishop of Uganda and Bishop of Kampala, Henry Luke Orombi, a respected religious leader who served from 2004 to 2012, has sparked debate with his assertion that President Museveni’s continued leadership is part of God’s divine plan for Uganda.
Born on October 11, 1949, in Pakwach, North Western Uganda, Orombi rose to prominence in the Anglican Church, serving as Archbishop of Uganda and Bishop of Kampala for eight years before retiring in December 2012.
Speaking at a rally in Nebbi Municipality over the weekend, Orombi said Museveni’s presidency has brought stability and growth to the country, citing over 40 years of NRM rule as a testament to the president’s enduring impact.
“The stability and growth Uganda has enjoyed under President Museveni’s leadership are signs that he still serves a Godly purpose,” Orombi said, as he blessed Museveni’s re-election campaign at a rally held at Namrwodho Primary School playground.
The former Archbishop’s comments have elicited mixed reactions from Ugandans, with some hailing his endorsement of the president while others have expressed disappointment.
