A tragic bus accident occurred on Sunday night in South Africa’s Limpopo province, claiming the lives of 42 people, including seven children.

The bus was traveling on the N1 highway, a major route that connects significant parts of the country, when it veered off the road and plunged down a steep embankment in a mountainous section of the highway.

The severity of the crash has sent shockwaves across the nation, with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressing his deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

In a statement, President Ramaphosa described the incident as a tragedy not only for South Africa but also for the neighboring countries of Zimbabwe and Malawi, from which many of the passengers hailed.

The bus was reportedly carrying passengers from neighboring countries when the accident occurred.

Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene, and rescue efforts were undertaken to assist those injured in the crash.

The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and an investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

The South African government has pledged to provide support to the families of the victims and to those injured in the crash.
