Mubende, Uganda – In a significant development ahead of the 2026 general elections, the Electoral Commission has officially nominated Kyeyune Pafuladito Bazirondere, the National Unity Platform (NUP) chairperson for Mubende district, to contest for the position of LC5 chairperson.
The nomination ceremony took place at exactly 2:00 pm on Thursday, with Murekezi Tumwesigye Ferdinand, the Returning Officer for the Electoral Commission in Mubende, confirming Pafuladito as the first candidate to be nominated for the LC5 position.
“Mubende people have cried enough; it’s now time they get true leaders who care about our district, and I am here, a man after service,” Pafuladito stated during the ceremony, emphasizing his determination to bring change to Mubende district.
He expressed his commitment to transforming the district and improving the lives of its residents.
Ferdinand, the Returning Officer, noted that Pafuladito is the first candidate to be nominated for the LC5 position, despite it being only the second day of nominations.
“Pafuladito is the first person to be nominated for the position of LC5 chairperson,” Ferdinand said, adding that the commission is ready to facilitate a fair and transparent electoral process.
Pafuladito was escorted to the nomination ceremony by several prominent NUP aspirants, including Ssegawa Ismael alias Sureman Ssegawa and Kyamanywa Bob Richard, both vying for the MP seat in Mubende municipality; Ssempiira Edward, who has already secured the party card for MP Buweekula South in Mubende district; and Mukooza Emmanuel, aspiring MP for Kasambya county.
Also in attendance were aspiring councilors and mayors, including Musasizi Ssemata, who is running for mayor of South division.
As the first candidate to be nominated for the LC5 position, Pafuladito’s nomination marks the beginning of a potentially competitive race.
His popularity has been on the rise, with many viewing him as a champion of change and good governance in Mubende district.
