The team of detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau has successfully apprehended six suspects believed to be behind a string of violent robberies targeting missionary camps in Kajiado town and its environs.

The gang, which had been terrorizing the region, is suspected to be behind several violent robberies in Kimana, Mashuru, Wote, and other areas. Their most recent attack occurred on August 8, 2025, when they stormed the Korean Mission Camp (MCK) in Elerai area of Mashuuru Sub-County. During the raid, the suspects, dressed in police jungle fatigues and wielding crude weapons, fatally injured a watchman.

Following the attack, detectives launched an intensive manhunt, which culminated in the arrest of Muoki Mulee in Kitengela and Ambrose Mutuku near Machakos Junction on August 19, 2025. Further interrogation of Ambrose led officers to his residence in Kitulu village, Machakos County, where police recovered police jungle uniforms believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes, alongside Sh49,000 in cash.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both Muoki Mulee and Ambrose Mutuku are repeat offenders, having been released from Machakos Prison in December 2024. The suspects are believed to have played key roles in the gang’s operations.

The operation was subsequently widened, leading to the arrest of four additional suspects: Dominic Moenga Mwambi, Joseph Mamai, Gideon Nyaga Njeri, and Alex Mwaura Waweru in Kantafu, Matungulu Sub-County. Detectives also impounded three vehicles with registration numbers KDJ 066S, KCX 851Q, and KDP 825D, suspected to have been used in the commission of the crimes.

The suspects are currently being held at a local police station as investigations continue. The authorities have assured the public that they will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served.

The arrests bring relief to the residents of Kajiado and the missionary camps, who had been living in fear of the gang’s attacks. The police have urged anyone with information about the suspects or the crimes to come forward and assist with the investigations.

The Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau has been commended for their swift action and diligence in tracking down the suspects. The case will proceed to court once investigations are complete.
