In a recent development, kiosks near Kabale Hospital have been demolished following concerns raised by local authorities. According to Kabale Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Godfrey Nyakahuma, the demolition was necessitated by several issues, including the sale of alcohol to patient attendants, storage of stolen medicine, congestion at the hospital gate, and security risks to health workers.
RDC Nyakahuma stated that the municipal council has been instructed to relocate the kiosks to alternative locations, specifically Garage Street Market or Mabi Central Market.
The decision aims to address the concerns and create a more secure and organized environment around the hospital.
The demolition has been met with mixed reactions from vendors and the community. While some vendors have expressed concerns about losing their livelihoods, others have acknowledged the need for a more organized and secure environment around the hospital.
The relocation of the kiosks is expected to improve the overall functioning of the hospital and enhance the safety and well-being of patients, health workers, and the community.
