Kyeyune Pafuladiito, the Chairman of the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Mubende district as aspiring chairman LC5 of this district, has been arrested by the Special Forces Command (SFC) for allegedly interfering with President Yoweri Museveni’s convoy.
The arrest occurred on the same day President Museveni officially opened the Mubende central market as part of his four-day tour of the Wamala region to promote government projects, including the Parish Development Model (PDM).
According to Pafuladiito, he was diverted by SFC personnel to take an alternative route. He complied and was stopped by other SFC personnel on the branched road.
Despite this, he was later advised to drive away and take Kakumiro road. Surprisingly, it was only his car that was allowed to proceed, while other vehicles in the line were stopped.
Pafuladiito continued to Shell on Kakumiro road, where he stopped to refuel and do some shopping at a supermarket.
However, while he was inside, young men in casual wear began taking photos of his car, which is branded with a photo of him and Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine, the leader of NUP.
SFC soldiers later joined in, prompting Pafuladiito to ask if there was an issue with him or his car.
The situation escalated when Councillor Damasen from Kalonga sub-county attempted to take photos, but was beaten and thrown into a patrol car.Pafuladiito was also beaten and arrested after being ordered out of his car.
They were brutalized by SFC personnel, driven to an unknown place, and later taken to the Mubende central police station.
At the police station, Pafuladiito was informed that his arrest was due to interfering with the presidential convoy.
However, this reasoning has raised questions, as President Museveni was addressing the community at the Mubende central market at the time of the alleged incident.
NUP leaders, including Ismael Ssegawa, aspiring MP for Mubende municipality, Moses Ssematta, aspiring Mayor for South Division, Kabali Haruna aspiring mayor West division and Kanyike Silvester, also aspiring Mayor for South Division, Sam and Kyeyune, requested bail for Pafuladiito and medical attention for injuries sustained during the arrest.

The OC-CID declined, stating that medical care would be provided at the police hospital.
It is speculated that the police are awaiting further instructions from the SFC regarding the case.
