Kampala, Uganda – In a shocking incident, Byaruhanga Kassim was arrested by Naggalama Police on December 7, 2024, for impersonating a Commissioner of Police and an intelligence officer of the army.
According to police reports, the impersonation attempt began on July 24, 2024, when the Division Police Commander (DPC) of Naggalama police division received a phone call from an individual claiming to be Commissioner of Police Tumusiime.
The impersonator informed the DPC about an alleged auctioning exercise of motor vehicles at the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

The following day, the impersonator requested the DPC to send Ugx 800,000 to a telephone number allegedly belonging to URA. Fortunately, the police were able to uncover the scam, leading to the arrest of Byaruhanga Kassim.
Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusome confirmed the arrest, highlighting the police’s commitment to combating impersonation and maintaining public trust.
