Kampala, Uganda – The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has announced a significant increase in fees for services related to damaged identification cards and alterations to personal details.
According to a statement released by NIRA, the fee for replacing a damaged national ID has been increased from UGX 50,000 to UGX 200,000.
Additionally, individuals seeking to alter their personal details, such as names, will now be required to pay UGX 200,000.
NIRA Spokesperson, Osborn Mushabe, confirmed the fee increase, stating that the new rates are effective immediately.
The move is likely to affect thousands of Ugandans who require these services, and has already sparked concerns among citizens who may struggle to afford the increased fees.
