Prominent Ugandan opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye has gone missing in Nairobi, Kenya, sparking widespread concern across Uganda and Kenya.
He was last seen on Saturday evening, November 16, 2024, when he left his home at Kasangati in Wakiso district to attend a book launch by Kenya’s former Minister for Justice, Martha Karua.
According to his wife, Winnie Byanyima, Dr. Besigye was abducted in Nairobi and is now being held in a military jail in Kampala.
Byanyima has demanded his immediate release from military detention, urging both governments to cooperate in resolving the matter urgently.
Dr. Besigye, a four-time Ugandan presidential candidate and staunch critic of President Yoweri Museveni, has a history of confrontation with authorities due to his outspoken activism for political reforms.
His disappearance has caused a stir in political and social circles, with many questioning whether foul play could be involved.
