Kampala, Uganda – The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has launched a comprehensive countrywide mobile registration campaign to capture Ugandans without National IDs, expanding services to the sub-county level.

In line with the Registration of Persons Act Cap 332, NIRA aims to ensure all citizens are registered.

Osborn Mushabe, NIRA’s Manager for Public Relations and Corporate Affairs, announced the initiative on X (formerly Twitter), encouraging unregistered citizens to utilize the mobile registration services.

The outreach program, set to run until November 23, will bring registration services closer to the people.

Local Council (LC1) chairpersons will inform residents of the mobile teams’ schedules in their areas.

To access the service, residents can:

  1. Contact their LC1 Chairperson for registration dates.
  2. Visit their nearest NIRA office for additional information.

NIRA’s mobile registration drive seeks to increase national ID coverage, promoting inclusivity and compliance with the Registration of Persons Act.

Citizens are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to acquire their National IDs, essential for accessing various government services and exercising civic rights.
