Ruth Nankabirwa, Uganda’s Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, has built a reputation as a dedicated public servant and a savvy businesswoman.

Married to Fred Ssegujja, a successful entrepreneur, the couple has invested heavily in large-scale commercial farming, managing a substantial pine and eucalyptus plantation in their home district of Kiboga.

Their agricultural ventures extend beyond tree farming, with Nankabirwa overseeing smaller plantations focused on mango farming and coffee growing.

These business interests reflect her broader passion for wealth creation and economic development, areas she continues to advocate for in her ministerial role.

In addition to their farming activities, the family has invested in several properties in Kampala and Kiboga, demonstrating their commitment to Uganda’s economic growth.

After many years in politics, Nankabirwa has transitioned to focus more on her business and family life, while still contributing to Uganda’s development.

Nankabirwa’s political experience has informed her approach to development and wealth creation.

Her husband, Fred Ssegujja, has been a strong supporter of her political career and is actively involved in the family business.

Together, they have demonstrated a commitment to community development through their active involvement in local affairs.

As Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, Nankabirwa has been at the forefront of Uganda’s oil and gas sector development.

She has overseen significant progress in the sector, including the development of the Tilenga and Kingfisher projects, the East African Crude Oil Pipeline, and the Uganda Refinery.

Nankabirwa’s dedication to Uganda’s economic growth and development is evident in her work as a minister and her personal business ventures.
