Ivan Kubanja, a sand dealer, is currently in custody at Nsangi police cells, accused of murdering Judith Alupo, a woman he met in a bar where she worked.
According to police, Kubanja’s arrest followed an investigation into Alupo’s disappearance, which led to the discovery of call logs linking Kubanja to the victim.
During interrogation, Kubanja confessed to the crime, revealing that he had been motivated by a desire for supernatural powers and wealth.
He claimed to have consulted a witchdoctor in Kasese, who advised him to perform a ritual sacrifice by killing a woman and pouring her blood into a river.
Kubanja allegedly invited Alupo to his place, where he strangled her, scooped blood from her neck, and poured it into River Mayanja in Buloba, following the witchdoctor’s instructions.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to apprehend the witchdoctor involved.
