Mityana, Wamala Region – A devastating road traffic accident on December 6, 2025, has claimed the life of a prominent figure in the Mityana community, Mr Kataza John Livingstone, 73, principal of Namutamba TTC and head of the Mityana Anglican Christian Fraternity.
The accident occurred at around 8:32 am at Kikonge, along the Kampala-Mityana-Mubende Fort Porto highway, involving a head-on collision between a Toyota Kuruga (UBE 726J) and a Toyota Harriar (UBF 706W).
The Kuruga was heading to Kampala with three occupants, including Mr Livingstone, while the Harria was traveling from Kampala to Mityana.
According to eyewitnesses and police reports, the Harria experienced a mechanical problem with its suspension, specifically with the rear tire on the left side, causing it to veer into the oncoming lane and collide head-on with the Kuruga.
Mr Livingstone, a male adult resident of Namutamba village, was a passenger in the Kuruga, along with the driver, Kayinamora Steven, and another occupant.

All three occupants were rescued from the wreckage and taken to a nearby health facility for first aid treatment. They were later referred to bigger health facilities in Kampala for further management.
However, Mr Livingstone succumbed to his injuries at Nsambya Hospital earlier today Tuesday 09-12-2025.
The driver of the Harria, who was traveling from Kampala to Mityana, fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.
The Mityana Traffic Police Department, led by Head Constable Major Wathum, has launched an investigation into the accident and is seeking to identify the driver of the Harria.
SSP Lameck Kigozi, police spokesperson for Wamala region, confirmed the details of the accident, stating that investigations are ongoing to track down the driver of the Harria and determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
