The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abas Byakagaba, has announced a major reshuffle within the police force, affecting key positions. Among those affected is Rachael Kawala, who is set to take over as spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP).
Kawala, who has been serving as the spokesperson for the Wamala region since 2020, is expected to bring her wealth of experience and expertise to the KMP role.
During her tenure in Wamala, Kawala has been instrumental in fostering positive relationships with the media and the public.

Lameck Kigozi has been appointed to take over from Kawala as the new spokesperson for Wamala region, marking a new chapter for the region’s communication team.
Patrick Onyango, the former KMP spokesperson, has been transferred to head publications at the Community Policing Command (CPC).
The reshuffle is part of IGP Byakagaba’s efforts to strengthen leadership across the police force and ensure key positions are staffed by capable and experienced personnel.
