In a bid to galvanize support for his upcoming parliamentary bid, Ismael Sseggawa, also known as Sureman Sseggawa, a National Unity Platform (NUP) aspirant for Mubende Municipality, took a tour of the Ugandan Parliament today.
Francis Zaake Butebi, a fellow NUP member and Mityana Municipality MP, assisted Sseggawa as a friend and party colleague. As an existing MP, Zaake helped Sseggawa gain access to Parliament for induction into the legislative process.

As a vocal radio presenter and community advocate, Sseggawa has been building momentum among Mubende residents, who are eager for change in the upcoming 2026-2031 term.
Sseggawa’s journey to politics is rooted in his passion for community development.
Before joining the radio industry, he worked as an eats vendor on Mubende Highway, where he witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by locals.
This experience inspired him to create the Nva Mubende Family, an initiative that promotes community unity and supports students, through income collected from the annual Nva Mubende Festival, which takes place in January every year.
Through Nva Mubende Family, Sseggawa has been actively engaging with the community, visiting schools, and donating educational materials, including success cards and pens, to Primary 7, Senior 4, and Senior 6 candidates, with the aim of motivating them to excel in their exams. He has also donated books to primary schools around Mubende.
Sseggawa joined NUP a long time ago but chose not to publicly declare his affiliation due to his active role as a journalist. However, with his decision to run for office, he is now openly embracing his party membership.
As the 11th Parliament term draws to a close, Sseggawa is determined to represent Mubende Municipality’s interests in Parliament.
His decision to run for office is driven by the incumbent MP’s perceived lack of progress in developing the area.
Sseggawa’s popularity and dedication to Mubende’s growth have garnered significant community support, making him a formidable candidate in the upcoming elections.
His campaign’s momentum is expected to continue, with many predicting a strong showing in the polls.
The NUP aspirant’s visit to Parliament today served as a testament to his commitment to engaging with key stakeholders and understanding the inner workings of the legislative body.
He has been visiting each village that makes up the municipality, thanking the people for the overwhelming love they have shown him.
Sseggawa also regularly visits the NUP party headquarters in Makerere Kavule, especially when the party addresses the media.
