The Inspectorate of Government (IG) has issued a reminder to all public officers to prepare for the mandatory declaration of income, assets, and liabilities scheduled for April 2026.
According to a notice released by the IG, the exercise is required under Section 5(1) of the Leadership Code Act, Cap 33, and will be conducted exclusively through the Inspectorate of Government Online Declaration System (IG-ODS).

The IG has clarified that all public officers, defined as individuals employed in a ministry, department, agency, or local government whose salary is paid by the government and are not classified as ‘leaders’ under Schedule 2 of the Leadership Code Act, are required to declare their income, assets, and liabilities.
To facilitate the process, public officers are required to submit their active email addresses and reliable mobile phone numbers to their institution’s designated IG-ODS Focal Person by December 31, 2025.
A list of institutional focal persons is available on the Inspectorate’s website or through the toll-free line 0800 111777.
The IG has warned that failure to declare by the deadline of April 30, 2026, will result in legal consequences, including prosecution before the Leadership Code Tribunal.
However, leaders who made their declarations in March 2025 are exempt from the April 2026 exercise.
The IG emphasizes that it is the obligation of every public officer to declare their income, assets, and liabilities to the Inspector General of Government.
