Entebbe, Uganda – In a shocking turn of events, the pickup vehicle gifted to Ampulire Night, a well-known fruit vendor, by MTN Uganda has reportedly gone missing.
The vehicle, which was presented to Night in a surprise ceremony on August 27, 2024, was meant to boost her fruit vending business and improve her livelihood.
Night, a humble fruit vendor and mother of five, had captured the hearts of MTN staff and management with her determination to provide for her family, despite driving a rundown pickup truck.
The surprise gift from MTN Uganda was a powerful gesture of hope and community, and was seen as a testament to the company’s commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs.
The ceremony, which was led by MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge, was an emotional moment for Night, who was overwhelmed with joy as her old truck was replaced with a brand-new one.

The moment was filled with tears of joy, dancing, and heartfelt thanks to MTN Uganda for the generous gift.
However, in a bizarre twist, the vehicle has now gone missing.
According to Night, the vehicle broke down, prompting her to seek the services of a mechanic recommended by a Kampala-based contact.
Night explained that the mechanic quoted 800,000 shillings for the necessary repairs.
Using her savings, she managed to pay 700,000 shillings, with the understanding that the vehicle would be restored to working condition.
However, the mechanic allegedly claimed that he needed to test the vehicle, only to have it taken to an unknown location.
It has now been nearly two weeks since Night last had any information about the whereabouts of her vehicle.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of the vehicle, which was a generous gift from MTN Uganda.
Night, who had been utilizing the vehicle to expand her fruit vending business, is now left without a crucial asset.
The authorities have been notified, and an investigation is reportedly underway to locate the missing vehicle and determine the circumstances surrounding its disappearance.
